Education Programme and Transition to School

Based on the Early Childhood Curriculum - Te Whaariki, our education programme covers the full range of experiences, activities and events that occur within the centre and is designed to foster children's learning and development. Teachers make regular observations of children's strengths and interests and use this as an important part of programme planning.

As part of their preparation for school, the 4 - 5 year age group starts to learn to write in small formal groups. Mat time activities including stories, games, music and singing are important for developing language and good listening skills which will be needed at school.

Parents recieve a progress Report for each child once a year. A portfolio is kept for each child and can be seen by parents at any time, on request. The folios also include many photos and examples of the children's work.
