Glanville Community Campus
In late 2011, Parnell Trust established a family learning campus in newly-leased facilities in Parnell (an ex Maori girls’ boarding school) and launched the Glanville Community Campus as a centre for family-focussed education and community connectedness - see satellite image above, and street location below.
We have built on Parnell Trust’s reputation as a highly-regarded community services and development organisation and have created a satellite campus that brings together a range of existing and new services and activities to one location. In addition to our existing early childhood centre located at the site, we now offer:
- educational and recreational opportunities for parents with pre-school children;
- educationally-focussed after school clubs;
- services which assist migrant families to better participate in their community, such as English for migrant grandparents caring for infants (a large number reside in the inner city);
- increased range of community education classes and activities we currently offer through the Parnell Community Centre, and
- added new leisure activities that encourage our community’s elderly residents to remain active and sociable.
We are also actively seeking appropriately-focussed third party providers to use the Glanville Community Campus as a location from which they can offer their own services. Interested parties should contact venue@parnell.org.nz .
Our guiding intent is a campus as a hub of family-focussed educational activity – one that provides opportunities for families from all walks of life to learn new skills, access valuable services and connect with their community.
Update: our first activities are now running at Glanville Community Campus - check out the Parnell Kids' Club for after school activities, and Learning and Leisure for adult education classes.
