Gladstone Park wins Gold for Healthy Heart program
Parnell Trust's Gladstone Park Early Childhood Centre has been awarded the Heart Foundation's Gold standard, Pā-Harakeke Healthy Heart award.
We're very proud that both our early childhood centres have now achieved the Heart Foundation's highest accreditation and recognition for their flourishing healthy eating, physical activity, and food and nutrition learning programmes.
The initiatives have been led by our Head Chef Fern Pereira, pictured above with Gladstone Park's Gold award, with enthusiastic support from our centre teams and children's families.
Ask about all the amazing healthy and active benefits of our Healthy Heart programme. It's all about taking the very best care of our children and setting them up to to be healthy for life!
Parnell Early Childhood Centre and Gladstone Park Early Childhood Centre both have limited short day spaces available now, caring for your child from 8.45am to 3.15pm. Cost effective, perfect to coincide with your school time run and a great way to gently introduce your child to day care. Call us to talk about how we can help you and your pre-schooler. Parnell Farmers' Market is open every Saturday 8am - 12 noon in the car park behind Parnell Library at 545 Parnell Road.
New York Times travel writer, Ingrid K. Williams visited Auckland recently and included our market in her story "36 Hours in Auckland, New Zealand".
After a walk through Auckland Domain, Williams writes:
" When hunger strikes, stray a block from the southern edge of the park to the Parnell Farmers’ Market (545 Parnell Road; parnell.org.nz), where stalls overflow with local products. Bite into a bacon-and-egg bap (sandwich) with spicy tomato sauce (5 New Zealand dollars) while listening to a musician strum a guitar, and then sample the goods at the Hakanoa Ginger Beer stand and the mouthwatering varieties at the NZ Cheeseman stall."
